July 2019- Scotland
If you are looking for a quaint, quiet village to spend a few days, Falkland has it all: history, hiking and wooded walks, friendly people, and delicious food. Located north of Edinburgh, at the foot of the Lomond Hills, this village has just over 1,000 residents.

This village was the site of some of the season 1 filming of Outlander.

Falkland can be reached by bus from the Edinburgh Airport, with a bus change in Glenrothes. The trip will take about 2 hours depending on bus schedules at Glenrothes. Tickets can be purchased on the buses going both directions. It is a 1-2 block walk from the bus stop into the center of the village.
Falkland Palace
This palace is loaded with history and was frequently used by the royal courts for hunting.

There are beautiful gardens surrounding the palace.

The grounds of the palace include one of the oldest remaining tennis courts.

There are several well maintained walking trails just outside the village.
