New Year’s in Hong Kong
December 28, 2018 – January 1, 2019
NIGHT

Hong Kong, once a British colony, is located in southern China and is the worlds 4th most densely populated region. It is one of the worlds important ports and financial centers.

The territory has the largest number of sky scrapers in the world, most of them located around Victoria Harbor.

The city was well decorated for Christmas.

We made our first trip to Hong Kong over the New Year’s Holiday.

We got to enjoy the Light Festival with art pieces by international artists.

Talking Heads (Viktor Vicsek, Hungary) 1 of 2

Bands of Friendship (Vikas Patil and Santosh Gujar, India)

Angels of Freedom (OGE Creative Group, Israel)

Love these wall murals we found in an alley.

DAY

Noonday Gun- fired each day at noon- so loud, curse words were said.

Exploring the markets on New Years Day

We had a great time in Hong Kong and look forward to visiting again.
Hotel: Mingle with the Stars/Wan Chi- small room, clean, well serviced, friendly staff, good location-about 3 blocks from metro.
Communication: Easy- everyone we encountered spoke English
Money: Hong Kong Dollar, easy to exchange, exchange shops and ATMs throughout city
Transportation: Express Train from Airport $110 Hong Kong dollars- nice seats, room for luggage, about 20 minutes to Central station, can take metro from there. We walked and took the metro otherwise. Buy an Octopus Card (refillable transportation card).
Overall- easy to get around, friendly people, worth a visit.
