These ruins were once part of the capital of the Sukhothai Kingdom in the 13th and 14th Century.  The walled city contains 193 ruins on 70 square kilometers of land.  Here you can find the palace and 26 temples.  Wat Mahathat is the largest of these temples.  You can spend several days exploring this UNESCO World Heritage site and the outlying areas.
