Wat Traphang Thong, Sukhothai
December 17, 2017
December is a great time of year to visit Thailand. The crowds are larger but the temperature is lower and in places like Sukhothai you barely notice that it is the high season for tourists.

Historic Sukhothai is a quiet little town located in Northern Thailand and it is worth staying here (Thai Thai Sukhothai Guesthouse) rather than in the new Sukhothai a few miles away. The first site we visited was Wat Traphang Thong, which is the only ancient temple in current use. It is just inside the east wall on a small island.

Two boys take a lunch break.

These might be some of the largest catfish I have ever seen.

This chedi was part of the original temple was built in the 14th century.
