Located on W Nanjing Road in Shanghai, the Jing’ An Temple sits peacefully amid modern skyscrapers.
It is worth a trip around the outside before entering.

The name translates to Temple of Peace and Tranquility.

The temple was first built in 247 AD beside the Suzhou Creek. It was moved to its current site in 1216 and during the Cultural Revolution was converted to a plastics factory. It was restored to its intended purpose in 1983 and underwent additions and renovations prior to 2010.
It takes most people several tries to land their lucky coin,
and success is sweet!!

This is probably the most beautiful temple I have been to so far. It has amazing carvings and is loaded with textures and colors.

The modern buildings in the background create an interesting contrast.

And East meets West….
