A restful retreat

During early October we traveled to Malang, East Java.  Malang was established by the Dutch in the late 18th century and is a lot more laid back than Jakarta.  From here we were able to venture out on some day trips and spend time reading as the rainy season was in full swing.

While we did not stay there, we would highly recommend Hotel Tugu Malang (not pictured but on the same circle shown above).  We had dinner there two nights and the food was very good.  The hotel also doubles as a museum.  The owners have an amazing collection of art and artifacts displayed around the hotel and it was one of the highlights of the trip.
